South Australia’s Barossa Valley is one of Australia’s premiere wine growing regions, renowned for its stunning landscape, internationally recognised wines and culinary delights. There is something for everyone to see and do in the Barossa Valley, making it a perfect addition to your bucket list. To help you make the most of your Barossa experience, here are some of the many popular activities that you can take part in:
The Barossa Farmers Market
Located in Angaston, the Barossa Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 7:30am until 11:30am. From fresh produce and baked goods to meat, fish, preservatives and small goods, the markets have a huge array of tantalising treats available. Even better, everything is fresh and mainly sourced from the homes and farms of the Barossa region. If the weather is poor you can still attend the markets as the stalls are permanently undercover.
Barossa Wineries
There are over 150 wineries scattered throughout the Barossa region. Whether you would like to take a tour, create your own winery experience or have a private tasting, there are all types of options for those who enjoy sampling premium wines. You will revel in the warm Barossa hospitality in the modern tasting rooms or rustic stone cottages, each offering their own unique and inviting atmosphere.
Barossa Valley Parks
After sampling the food and wine of the Barossa, it’s well worth venturing out to see the breathtaking landscape. Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park is an idyllic setting offering some great walks. For those wanting a light walk to get the blood pumping there is the Stringeybark Hike, which is a 2 kilometre loop where you often get to see Western Grey kangaroos and the more elusive Nankeen kestrels. If you’re more active you can head out on the Wallowa Hike which is 4.7km each way and has spectacular views over the top of the Barossa ranges.
These are just some of the many ways you can experience the beautiful Barossa Valley. If you’re wanting to hire a car in South Australia for an affordable rate call us on 1300 41 49 41 .
